I’ll never forget the thrill of finding a small, hidden clue that indicated I might be on the right track in my quest to find my long-lost 3X great grandfather, who was last seen (allegedly) riding away on horseback from his farm and family in Alma, Arkansas. It was 1857…and he was never heard from again. There probably isn’t one family who isn’t in search of someone – whether they lived 300 years ago or you lost touch yesterday.

Family Finder services are designed to help you locate biological family members, such as birth parents, siblings, heirs, or distant relatives. I help you find lost family members using traditional genealogical research techniques and methods, which can be supplemented with voluntary DNA tests to verify family ties.

Services include:

FAMILY REUNIFICATION: These services help individuals find biological family members they may have lost touch with, such as birth parents, siblings, or distant relatives. This could be for personal reasons, such as building a family tree or reconnecting with loved ones.
LOCATION OF UNKNOWN AND MISSING HEIRS: Many legal cases and/or financial matters require locating next of kin to distribute assets in a will, find beneficiaries, or to help make decisions when a family member is not able to do so themselves.
DOCUMENTATION FOR LAND AND REAL ESTATE CASES: I assist law firms, title companies and others where property ownership is unclear due to deaths without a will or complicated family histories; or there are disagreements about ownership rights. I don’t provide legal services, but I can help assemble documented evidence of family trees and inheritance patterns, which can be used by the appropriate parties to mediate disputes and reach settlements.

Professional Experience

I have always been interested in genealogy and intrigued by all aspects of conducting research to find answers to mysteries and help solve problems. I sat at my dad's knee in the mid-1990s, absorbing the genealogical research process as he researched his ancestors. He turned that information into two published books – one a Wynn Family History book and the other, The Mormon and Mr. Sullivan, a historical fiction based on my paternal 3X great grandfather’s possible link to Mormon apostle Parley Parker Pratt’s death and the Mountain Meadows Massacre.

To advance my interest in the genealogy field I started from scratch, taking genealogy courses at the National Institute for Genealogy Studies (NIGS) in 2020. Next, I completed two rigorous genealogical research projects as a student in the University of New Haven's Graduate Certificate in Forensic Genetic Genealogy program, and a mock forensic investigative genetic genealogy missing persons’ case. I am actively pursuing opportunities to build my caseload experience with law enforcement agencies, and have successfully sumitted two final case reports that identified several next-of-kin in decades-old missing persons cases for NOKfinders.

I am also working towards becoming a Certified Genealogist, beginning with participation in ProGen, a peer-guided study group for aspiring and professional genealogists.
